After Rubens (Massacre of the Innocents, detail)
Three Chalk on Toned Paper - 12.5" x 14.5"
Framed
My copy of a detail from "Massacre of the Innocents" by Peter Paul Rubens, the most influential artist of the Flemish Baroque tradition, was rendered in front of the original painting at The AGO in Toronto. This "trois crayons" approach on grey toned paper (three chalk in sanguine, black and white) is staying with the technique popularized by this Flemish master. Showcased in a scalloped two-tone gold frame under a beveled topaz matt, this drawing is a little golden treasure.
